KT 1 and 2 Course description:
This course is designed to teach the fundamentals of Kinesio® Taping for the entire body as outlined by the Kinesio® Taping Association. Kinesio® Taping techniques are used to re-educate the neuromuscular system, reduce pain, prevent injury, and promote lymphatic flow and healing. Participants will learn the core concepts of the Kinesio® Taping method and will practice the techniques through multiple, intense lab sessions. 16 CEU's are awarded for completion of KT 1 and 2.
KT 3 Course description:
This course is designed to teach advanced fundamentals of Kinesio Taping for the entire body as outlined by the Kinesio ® Taping Association. Participants will learn advanced concepts of the Kinesio Taping methond. KT 1 and 2 are a prerequisite for taking KT3. 8 CEU's are awarded for completion of KT3 and you will be eligible to sit for the KT exam and become a certified Kinesiotaping practitioner.
KT 1 and 2 Goals and Objectives:
- Learn all fundamental information regarding Kinesio Taping® methods developed by Dr. Kenzo Kase
- Begin development of advanced Kinesio Taping® techniques
- Understand use of KTA reference data base
- Understand and demonstrate appropriate Kinesio Tape® strategies for the upper and lower extremities
- Understand and demonstrate Kinesio Taping ® strategies for the muscles of the superficial, middle, and deep layers
- Understand the theories behind using Kinesio Taping® to improve lymphatic flow and healing

Dr. Masahiro Takakura
Dr. Takakura (known to us as Dr. Masa) earned a BS (2000) in natural sciences, ND (2002), and MSAOM (2003) all from Bastyr University. He practiced in Bellevue, Washington before moving to Illinois in 2004. He attended the Chiropractic program at National University of Health Science while maintaining a private practice at The Brannick Clinic of Natural Medicine at Riverside, Illinois. In 2005, he moved to Colorado and practiced at Fountain Creek Wellness Center in Manitou Springs, Colorado. He returned to the Pacific Northwest in 2006 where he is currently a Core faculty member of the physical medicine department at Bastyr University, clinical supervision at Myofascial Analysis; Naturopathic Manipulation 1; Hydrotherapy/Physiotherapy lab; CranioSacral Therapy; and Clinical Rotations. Dr. Takakura has a special interest in physical medicine and pain management. He is an outstanding speaker, we are lucky to have him present!

Kyle Nelson, ATC, CKTI
Kyle graduated from Portland State University in 1996 with a BS in Health and Fitness Promotion with a minor in Athletic Training.
He received a Master of Public Health from Portland State University in 1998 and was certified as a Kinesio® Taping Instructor in
1997. Kyle attended the Kinesio® Taping Association Symposium in Tokyo, Japan in 1999. Kyle currently works at Hope
Orthopedics of Oregon in Salem, Oregon as the Athletic Training Coordinator for outreach programs. Kyle is an excellent
instructor, making complicated concepts seem easy!
